Full Job Description:

Invention Steps, a prominent company in new product design and development, seeks a skilled industrial designer to join our team. With 28 years of experience on a global scale, we work hand in hand with inventors and innovators to transform their ideas into high-quality manufactured products.

As an Industrial Designer on our team, you will turn creative concepts into functional and market-ready products. This role requires managing projects from start to finish, and as such, you must possess a comprehensive understanding of various manufacturing techniques. Your job will involve creating a variety of products, from basic kitchen tools to intricate machinery and electronics. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design innovative, creative, and functional products.
  • Produce and understand complex engineering designs, including part assemblies.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with the Managing Director and other team members.
  • Maintain organised files and documentation of the design process for reference.
  • Crafting user manuals, brochures, and marketing materials with a keen eye for detail.
  • Demonstrating exceptional abilities in managing tasks and time efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work remotely, with negotiable hours based on your capability and availability.

 

Selection Criteria:

  • Essential: Demonstrated ability to create innovative and functional designs. Portfolio required.
  • Desirable:
    • Good free-hand sketching ability.
    • Experience in industrial design of electronic consumer goods.
    • Experience in 3D printing, prototype processes, and handcrafting of models.
    • Understanding of manufacturing processes and implications for product design.
    • Knowledge of basic finishing techniques used to create mock-up/space models.
    • Ability to select, specify, or recommend materials, production methods, and product finishes.
    • Willingness to perform any other duties as directed or required.
